This
menacing right field wall was 38 feet tall, 19 feet of
concrete topped by 19 feet of screen. The bottom
half of the concrete
portion angled in toward the warning track. In addition,
the sizable right field scoreboard jutted out five feet
from the wall at a 45 degree angle. Carl Furillo
and Duke Snider
were experts at protecting Brooklyn clothier Abe Stark,
whose sign under the scoreboard promised: “Hit
Sign Win Suit.”
